Our Ranger/Guide, Ozzy, said that these cape buffalo were only dangerous if they were males on their own. They still make me nervous and are notoriously near sighted and bad tempered. All went well though and Ozzy, as it turns out, was right.ZDogg

Hope that guide had a large caliber rifle. I wouldn't want a buffalo chargin' at me with a .22.
Bolt action .308 I think? Only one shot though. Ozzy said that usually if you shot over their heads they would run off, but if not you were supposed to lie still and flat on the ground. Yeah right, a 1.5 ton cow is tryin' to gore you and you are gonna lie still.
