Damn you are ugly

Over millions of years warthogs got tired of predators waiting outside of their dens to pick them off as they exit in the morning. So, they haved developed an effective albeit amazingly funny tactic of hauling ass in a straight line right out their front door for as long as necessary only then turning around to see if anything was actually waiting to attack it. Kinda like building a BMX start gate in your garage to avoid being hit by cars at the end of your driveway.

Lions are like house cats. They like naps and they love to eat. They also weigh like three hundred pounds and when they eat, they eat things like zebra or impala. This lady kitten was takin' a mid day seista on a rock about 40 feet from the truck.

Stupid sunsets...

This one is from Tanzania, but we have some awesome sunsets here in good ol' Nebraska too. That was one thing I missed when I lived in New Orleans, the skies and sunsets here...Oh, and all the weirdos ridin' around on sweet bikes actin' crazy and tryin' to talk to me.

Lizards eveywhere...

Looks like the reptile population in Tanzania is alive and well. The first guy was tiny like a mouse and pretty spiky. The big yellow guy was like 4 feet long, he lived by our cabana down on the coast. I named him Plasma, the Monitor lizard...get it? Plasma...Monitor. I am so lame. Anyhoo cool lizard photos.

Symbiosis....

The Red Billed Hornbill provides a noisy early warning system while the Mongoose keeps the occupied termite mound den/nest safe from reptiles and other pesky little buggers. Pretty cool to see to species gettin' along so well, people could learn a thing or two from a funny lookin' bird and a big snake eatin' rat.

How many bullets do you have for that rifle Ozzy?

Our Ranger/Guide, Ozzy, said that these cape buffalo were only dangerous if they were males on their own. They still make me nervous and are notoriously near sighted and bad tempered. All went well though and Ozzy, as it turns out, was right.
